About this volunteering opportunity:
Getting alongside a young person in care is a real opportunity to make a significant difference to their life. This volunteer opportunity is for adults over 18 who enjoy the company of young people and are able to communicate and engage with them positively.
This role is for ongoing long-term volunteering outside of school hours and involves meeting regularly with a young person you are carefully matched with to be an encourager and buddy to them. You will need to be confident to advise on daily issues, and be able to offer long term commitment and have perseverance and flexibility. The relationship offers the young person a chance to discuss serious issues and/or just have some fun with someone outside the ‘system’. You will receive support and training and will need to have a CRB check and references.
