About Rushcliffe CVS

Our mission, values and role

Our Mission
To improve quality of life through the development and promotion of a vigorous and diverse voluntary sector which addresses local needs and issues

Our Values
We recognise that inequalities exist and will therefore give priority to working with individuals, groups or communities whose full participation in society is limited by disadvantage and social exclusion. Our policies and practices stem from the following set of values:

•    A belief in equality of opportunity and social justice for all
•    A belief in the right of individuals to work together to participate in decision-               making and local action
•    A belief in the importance of building the capacity of voluntary and community            groups so that they are democratic and accountable
•    A belief in the need for the voluntary and community sector to work as equal            partners with others to bring about the development and regeneration of their          communities
•    A belief in being open and accountable in all our working relationships with all of          our partners

Our Role
Our role encompasses the core values of a CVS as required by the national body National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA):
•    To support and develop voluntary and community activities throughout Rushcliffe
•    To help ensure that the voluntary sector is heard where important decisions are made
•    To engage fully in strategic partnerships
•    To provide opportunities for organisations from all sectors to meet and exchange         views and ideas

Our Area of Operation
Principally the Borough of Rushcliffe but we are able to undertake appropriate work in other areas subject to funding being made available.
